Our Learning Groups

We offer small group learning, by experienced teachers. Each group is organised so that students are similar in grade and usually progress together over one to two terms. This allows our teachers to tailor their teaching to each child but also for children to develop friendships and learn to work together.

Children will often find it reassuring that they are not the only one having difficulties with learning. We use a multi-sensory teaching approach to help children learn and progress.

Our program of literacy learning groups includes:

Get Set for Literacy

Get Set for Literacy is a multisensory programme which develops phonological awareness of mono-syllabic words. It focuses primarily on the consonant and short vowel phonemes.

Suitable for children in Grades 1 and 2.
2 days a week.

Launching into Literacy

Launching into Literacy is a multisensory programme which develops phonological awareness of mono-syllabic words. It focuses primarily on intial and final consonant blends and the major vowel phonemes. For older children, it also develops phonological awareness of multi-syllabic words.

Suitable for children in Grades 3-7.
1 day a week.

Flying through Literacy

Flying through Literacy develops phonological awareness through application of phonemic awareness to reading and writing. Enrolment in this group is dependent upon prior completion of the Launching Into Literacy programme.

Cruise into Comprehension

Cruising into Comprehension develops comprehension skills at the literal, inferential and critical levels.

Suitable for children in Grades 5-7.
1 day a week.

Wrapping up Writing

Wrapping up Writing develops competence in writing different genres.

Suitable for children in Grades 4-7.
1 day a week.
